Radical new thinking and expert product design have resulted in a new style of antivibration workstation from Intracel .

The ISOLATE SYSTEM 2000 uses the inherent strength and rigidity of aluminium to provide a versatile frame for the basis of this highly adaptable and ergonomically designed range of workstations. The frame is drilled through with 17mm diameter holes at 100mm intervals to facilitate the mounting of shelves or ancillary equipment. The area under the worktop is unencumbered by tie bars providing clear leg room for operator comfort .

The SYSTEM 2000 can be supplied in either active (self-levelling) or passive isolation versions. A further range of rigid mount (2000R) tables is available for applications where a firm base is required but where horizontal or vertical isolation is not critical.

In all cases the work surface is brushed ferromagnetic stainless steel, matrix drilled or plain, bonded to a steel honeycomb core. Frame finish is an epoxy coating textured raven black or light grey.

RIGID MOUNT
Basic frame construction and worktop are identical to passive and active versions of the SYSTEM 2000. The worktop in these tables however mounts to the frame by means of rigid rubber mounting pads located at the top of each leg. Accessories where relevant are the same as for air isolation systems.

HONEYCOMB CORE WORKTOP CONSTRUCTION
In the case of solid metal or granite structures, although their load-bearing capacity for mounting components may be adequate, the ability to damp out induced vibrations from active components mounted on the surface, or to attenuate transmitted or airborne vibrations is almost non-existent. They also ‘ring’ when struck.

The plated steel honeycomb core sandwich stuctures used in Intracel tables offer the highest strength to weight ratio of any structural design currently available. They provide excellent damping efficiency and dynamic rigidity.

Static rigidity depends in part on table thickness.
ISOLATE SYSTEM 2000 tables are available with a top thickness of 110mm or 60mm.

Overall isolation efficiency will depend on the natural frequency of the isolators and the mass of the loaded table top. For the most demanding applications active isolation tables with 110mm thick tops will be the preferred choice.
PASSIVE ISOLATION
The worktop is supported on air operated bearers in the frame legs which are inflated to operating pressure using a footpump provided. This type of isolation is suitable for many routine applications not requiring the highest standards of isolation. Uses will include microinjection, extracellular work, microscopy and sensitive balance operation. If frequent changes of load to the work surface are likely it may be more convenient to use the active isolation self-levelling type of table to avoid having to adjust the air pressure to maintain a ‘floating’ top .

ACTIVE ISOLATION

These tables provide a high degree of isolation, necessary for most electrophysiology recording work, solution changing, patch clamp applications and manipulation work involving cells. The air-operated self-levelling system is controlled by three valves in the legs linked to the underside of the table top by magnetically coupled lever arms. Any significant change in the load on the work surface will be sensed and compressed air supplied to maintain the table top at constant working height. The system allows a working height adjustment within a range of + 6mm.
Active ‘isolation’ will be the system of choice if frequent change to the table top load are likely .

The work surface on all versions of the ISOLATE
SYSTEM 2000 tables is 15mm thick stainless ferromagnetic steel sheet with a natural metallic brushed finish. This is bonded to the honeycomb core. The sides of the work top are finished in a colour-matching vinyl laminate. The top surface is supplied either plain of fully matrix drilled with threaded M6 holes at 25mm spacing.
In addition to an adjustment of + 6 within the self-levelling system in active isolation tables, all versions have adjustable levelling feet which allow height compensation of + 20mm.
The adjustable feet allow the work station to be lowered on to castors which are supplied as standard on all versions .

ACCESSORIES

Adjustable arm / wrist rest. This fits to the front rail of the SYSTEM 2000 and is height adjustable by means of locking nuts on its screw threaded mounting posts. An ESD (Antistatic) insert is fitted to the wrist rest.

Earthing Kit. A colour coded kit of earthing straps for bonding frame worktop shelves and legs to facilitate electrostatic discharge. This is a factory fitted option and if required should be requested at time of order .

Flatscreen mount. This comprises a vertical mounting post fitted with a pivot clamp to which a flatscreen monitor may be attached. The clamp and the ball jointed fitting allow the monitor to be adjusted for height or angle. The mounting post may be located on the side or rear rails of the SYSTEM 2000 frame .

Mounting posts. Vertical pillars designed for use on the upper side or rear rails of the SYSTEM 2000 frame, attaching to the frame by means of a screw-threaded stud, nut and washer supplied. The posts may be used for mounting auxiliary equipment and are available in 600mm lengths (25 or 42mm dia.) or 200mm length 25mm diameter.

CPU / Movable shelf. This shelf hooks over the lower rail of the SYSTEM 2000 and may be used to support a computer or other similar weight equipment. Shelf size 450 x 260mm.

Single shelf. Suitable for a small computer monitor or similar. Fits to upper side or rear rails of the SYSTEM 2000 frame. Supplied with mounting posts and fittings. Shelf size 300 x 300mm.

Overhead shelf. This high level shelf, 300mm deep is available for side or rear mounting and is supplied in
various lengths appropriate for the worktop size. Supplied complete with mounting posts and fittings.

Under shelf. Available in sizes to suit the worktop size. The shelf is fitted to the lower rear and side rails and spans the full width of the table. Shelf depth 260mm.

Side shelf. Suitable for a small computer monitor or similar. Fits to upper side or rear rails of the SYSTEM 2000 frame. Supplied with mounting posts and fittings. Shelf size 300 x 300mm.

Overhead shelf. This high level shelf, 300mm deep is available for side or rear mounting and is supplied in arious lengths appropriate for the worktop size. Supplied complete with mounting posts and fittings.

Under shelf. Available in sizes to suit the worktop size. The shelf is fitted to the lower rear and side rails and spans the full width of the table. Shelf depth 260mm.

Side shelf. This fits to the upper side rails of the SYSTEM 2000 and can support up to 60kg at worktop level. The shelf is 600mm deep and is available in sizes to suit the worktop. An optional keyboard shelf and mouse mat can be fitted to the side shelf and is available as a separate accessory.

Ergonomic chair. Designed to provide comfortable and correct sitting posture for SYSTEM 2000 users.

Faraday Cage. Patch clamp and other microelectrode recording techniques require shielding from workstation electromagnetic interference. This cage accessory, designed specifically for the SYSTEM 2000 mounts directly to the frame and therefore has no contact with the isolated work surface. The front panel is removable providing full height and width access to the worktop. Standard overhead and single shelf accessories maybe fitted inside the Faraday Cage. The front panel cannot be fitted when an arm / wrist rest is in place.

Air compressor. As an alternative to a compressed air cylinder this quiet operating air compressor provides air on demand for self-levelling and vibration isolation system in ‘active’ tables .
