These can be supplied with or without inner filament. The most popular material is borosilicate glass, although for some specialised applications soda glass, quartz or alumino-silicate glass tubing may be preferred.
Theta cross-section tubing, multibarrel and solid 1mm o.d. quartz rod are also available.
Due to its high melting point quartz cannot be pulled using conventional pullers. The Sutter laser-based P-2000 puller is ideal for this purpose.
