The Eppendorf PPMD microdissector available from Intracel, uses an ultrasonic piezo – powered MicroChisel to isolate cells, sell particles and cell groups from their surrounding matrix.  The fine metal tip of the MicroChisel is guided by a suitable micromanipulator.  Isolated material may then be removed using the integrated aspirating pipette and Eppendorf Filtertips® (MDS), or the CellTram® vario microinjector and TransferTips® (MDS). 

The CellTram is the preferred option for smaller cell groups or single cells.

A typical workstation would include the MicroDissector (which includes the cutting tool, control box and micropipette), together with two TransferMan micromanipulators and an inverted microscope.
