The DC-3K comprises a combination of a manual mechanical manipulator (MM33) for and DC motor drives in three axis. Initial positioning of the pipette/electrode may be achieved by the use of the manual controls which allow movement over the following range: x axis 37mm, y axis 20mm, z axis 25mm. The motor drives have a 10mm range of travel with sub-micron resolution in each axis using the MS314 controller. The MS314 has push button controls for each axis plus control of motor speed and step size. Single steps (minimum 0.5 micron) are are activated by briefly pressing the button and continuous movements are obtained when the button is held down. The x-axis drive motor may be tilted to an angle of up to 90 degrees allowing axial pipette/electrode travel to be obtained.
The DC-3k requires a controller, usually the MS314, plus a stand or adapter for fitting the manipulator to the microscope stage. The maipulator is fitted with a half inch clamp for attachment to a range of magnetic stands and adapters to suite a variety of microscopes.
This version of the DC-3K has a swing-out tool holder for rapid pipette/electorde changes.
