1. New platinum electroporation electrodes have been introduced by Intracel. There are two versions. One has a rigid 0.8mm diameter stainless steel shaft. The other has a bendable 0.8mm diameter silver wire shaft. Both have a 7.5mm exposed platinum wire tip (0.5mm diameter).
Both electrode types fit Intracel's standard holders.
2. The new Axon Multiclamp 700B Amplifier, successor to the
popular 700A is now available.
Major new features include membrane potential-triggered switch from current
to voltage clamp, automatic oscillation suppression and automatic voltage drift
compensation during current clamp recording.
3. The Axoporator 800A single cell electroporator is now available. This results from collaboration between the Swedish company Cellectricon and Axon Instruments. The system offers rectangular (square wave) bipolar and bilevel pulses and precise targeting for single cell transfection.
4. Applications for Intracel’s TSS20 Ovodyne Electroporator have
been extended by the introduction of the EP21 Current Amplifier accessory. This
connects to the TSS20 output. The amplifier reproduces the square wave pulse
parameters set on the TSS20 but allows currents of up to 1000mA to be drawn.
The TSS20 / EP21 combination now permits work with protocols involving higher
field strengths or buffer conductivity than could be used with the TSS20 alone.
In addition to in ovo work the EP21 increases opportunities for in
vitro / cuvette electroporation.
5. SUTTER have announced three new additions to their optical products range.
The SmartShutter uses a precision stepper motor and a new high performance microprocessor motor control. It is available for stand-alone operation or use with a filter wheel (accepts commands from 10-3 or 10B controllers).
The Lambda 10-B Optical Filter Changer provides a low cost alternative to the well-established 10-2 System. It offers high performance single filter wheel operation and uses latest motor technology to achieve filter switching times of 40msec or better.
The Lambda 10-3 High Speed Filter Wheel System uses similar technology and can be configured for control of up to 3 filter wheels and 2 shutters, supporting both the standard shutter type or the new SmartShutter.
On 4th May 2004 Intracel signed an agreement with Qbiogene,
Illkirch France for the distribution of our TSS20 Ovodyne Electroporator and
related products.
Qbiogene have an active sales presence in Europe including France, Germany
and Switzerland. They bring with them a wealth of expertise in molecular biology
and will represent an important outlet for our sales development throughout
Europe.
The agreement leaves Intracel free however to appoint other distributors worldwide
or to deal directly with our customers .
