The VIBRATOME 1000 Plus is built on the same rock solid mechanical system as the Classic Vibratome System which researchers have grown to depend upon for many years.

The VIBRATOME 1000 Plus uses the same mechanical sectioning components as the Classic with additional anti-corrosion features and handling improvements.

 

The Vibratome system ensures that the viability of the tissue is maintained, with no embedding or freezing to change the characteristics of specimens before further examination.  The system enables fresh or fixed human, animal or plant tissue to be cut evenly without distortion.  As a general guide it should be possible to cut fresh brain tissue to 30-40 microns thickness using standard razor blade or disposable type microtome blades.  Thinner sections can be achieved routinely by using a glass or sapphire knife on fresh or fixed tissue.
