VIBRATOME® 1500 - TISSUE SECTIONING SYSTEM

 

The VIBRATOME 1500 is a semi automatic tissue sectioning system.  The operator simply enters the number of sections and thickness required and the Series 1500 does the rest.  Through the use of an easy-to-read LED display and simple controls, the Vibratome 1500 makes sectioning an easy task.

The VIBRATOME Series 1500 provides a versatile means of sectioning fresh or fixed tissue to thicknesses as low as 20 microns. 

 

The Series 1500 employs an arcuate vibrating blade principle that allows sectioning without freezing or embedding, maintaining the biological viability of the tissue.  The creation of artefacts, the alteration of morphology, the destruction of enzyme activities and other deleterious effects are avoided.  Sections are also free of observable compressive distortion in the direction of the cut.  With minimized deformation of delicate soft tissue, more uniform sections result.

 

The new controls on the Series 1500 make sectioning easy and convenient.  The unit can be easily placed into three separate operating modes - automatic, single sectioning and manual.  These modes give the operator the ease and flexibility of using the instrument in a purely manual mode or setting up the application one section at a time until the user is satisfied with single stroke mode.  Once the sections have been properly set up and the task of serial sectioning is at hand the unit can be placed on automatic and the Series 1500 will do the rest.

 

The Series 1500 is equipped with an adjustable cutting window for shorter cycle times.  In addition, it provides a total vertical feed of 15mm, allowing larger specimens and more sections to be attained.  And with a section speed of 0 to 2mm per second and a rapid return stroke of 2mm per second, the Series 1500 provides fast, efficient sectioning.  For better viewing and easier operation, the Series 1500 also features a separately adjustable light and magnifier.
